Workshop: Study Methods | As part of the Test Preparation Guidance Program
A specialized educational workshop designed to assist the student counselor, introducing students to effective study methods and how to benefit from them in improving academic achievement, within the Test Preparation Guidance Program issued by the General Directorate of Student Guidance at the Ministry of Education.
Workshop Content
The workshop consists of 35 professional presentation slides, covering seven main topics:
The first topic answers a fundamental question: Why is the method more important than time? It highlights the key differences between correct studying and ineffective studying, supported by memory science figures and the forgetting curve.
The second topic reveals the student's learning style according to the VARK model, guiding them toward the most suitable methods whether they are visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic.
The third topic presents the six most effective scientifically proven methods: active recall, spaced repetition, teaching others, mind maps, smart summarization, and solving previous questions, with practical explanation for each method.
The fourth topic details the Feynman technique through a practical activity that students implement directly during the session.
The fifth topic explains how to build mind maps, their rules, how to do smart summarization in the student's own words, and the Cornell note-taking system.
The sixth topic offers digital and non-digital tools that support studying, such as Anki, Notion, flashcards, and whiteboards.
The seventh topic concludes the workshop with creating a personal study plan, a pledge card written by the student themselves, and a habit tracker for 21 days.
Assessment Indicators
🔵 (1-2-1-5) The school implements enrichment programs and activities to develop learners' talents, prepare them for the future, and follow up on them.
